Here's a good chip guideline and blind schedule for a fun home Texas Hold 'Em poker tournament:

$20 for $1000 chip value buy-in. Game begins at 6:30pm.
$20 for $1000 chips unlimited re-buys until 8:30pm. You must be out-of-chips to re-buy.
1 Add-on (additional chip buy-in at 8:30pm) $20 for $1000 chips - at players' option.
If you stop the re-buys at 8:30pm the game usually ends at 10:30pm based on this blind-schedule:
